The Serenity Prayer

In my final essay, one of the last lines of the letter to my father read, "God grant both of us the serenity, right?"
When times are tough this is part of a prayer my dad and I keep in mind. It's our favorite prayer. You may have heard it before...

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

I am strong in, but not obsessed with my faith. I may not always agree with or understand every sermon that is preached, but I still believe in a higher power. Simpley, when I find the time, I feel at peace when I praise God.
